Assistant Coach 14 Black Radiant

Coach Donaruma started playing volleyball in 2007 for the Franklin Township School volleyball team and continued to play on that team until 2010. From 2010 through 2012, Coach Donaruma played club volleyball for local club teams.  As a defensive specialist in 2012, she helped her team win the silver medal at regionals, under our very own Coach Hung.

In 2011 Coach Donaruma begin her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Franklin Township School volleyball team. She continued to develop as a coach in 2012 while volunteering with a 13 year old regional club team. Most recently, in December of 2012, Coach Donaruma joined the staff at Radiant Suns, and took a rigorous 20-hour coaching course through GoldMedalSquared Elite Volleyball training.  Her mentor through this training was Dr. Carl McGown, who has worked along side of various Gold Medal winning Olympic coaches in the USA and who also has won 2 NCAA Division 1 Championships with Brigham Young University.

In the innaugural season for RSV, Coach Donaruma worked with our 14 Black under Coach Rodrigues and Coach Hung.  She is excited to enter her second year coaching club in 2013-2014.

For the past 3 years, Coach Donaruma has coached for the Special Olympics track meet at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, New Jersey.

Coaching PhilosophyKnowing the fundamentals is key. A player has to have the self-discipline to practice the same thing over and over until it's something you do naturally. Nothing is going to come easy and you have to work hard in order to get results. If you're really passionate about something it's your strive to get better and better everyday. No ifs, ands, or buts.
